Garry P. Wigant, 62, of Albany, Ill, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, in Iowa City, Iowa. Services will be announced at a later date. Cremation took place at Trimble Crematory, in Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established for his grandchildren.

Garry was born March 24, 1956, in Geneseo, the son of Leslie and Patricia (Wetzel) Wigant. He graduated from Geneseo High School in 1974. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and was a police officer for the Illinois State Police for 22 years, retiring in 2012. Garry married Chris Wisdom in 1978. They later divorced. He then married Dawn Claeys, and they later divorced.

He is survived by two daughters, Wendy Wigant (Damon Mitchell), of Erie; and Anna Wigant (Lane Mills), of Albany; a son, Casey (Courtney) Wigant, of Erie; his mother, Patricia Wigant, of Geneseo; two granddaughters, Elena and Allison Mitchell; siblings, Mark Wigant, of Charleston, S.C.; and Mike (Lois) Wigant, of Geneseo. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Les “Sandy” Wigant; and a nephew, Chad Wigant.
