Twenty-four Geneseo High School seniors were honored as Illinois State Scholars at a reception breakfast on Dec. 15 at the high school.
High school principal Mike Haugse called the honor “a great achievement” for the students.
Illinois State Scholars are determined by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission. Students are recognized for their outstanding academic achievement. They rank in the top 10 percent of the state’s high-school graduating seniors.
Rankings are based on a combination of ACT and/or SAT test scores and class rank at the end of their junior year.
Illinois State Scholars from Geneseo High School include: Michael Atwell, Alexis Brummet, Elizabeth Buzard, Joann Chenoweth, Mark Converse, Justin Densberger, Carlisle Evans-Peck, Chad Ford, Andrew Kellogg, Nikki Kittelson, Aaron Kotecki, Luke Lembke, Katie Lenz, Megan Melcher, Taylor Mighell, Phillip Sears, Alex Stevens, Taylor Tague, Emily VanDeWoestyne, Lauren Verplaetse, Hilary Werner, Paul West, Danielle White and Sean Yerkey.
