Rosemary Lofgren, 85, of Geneseo, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010,  at Geneseo Good Samaritan Village. A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Michael Pakula will officiate. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo, where a rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Geneseo Public Library or Alzheimer’s Association.

She was born Jan. 27, 1924, in East Moline, the daughter of Peter and Anna Marie (O’Neil) Pisman. She was a 1942 graduate of Moline High School. She married Gerald A. Lofgren May 11, 1946, at Sacred Heart Church, Moline. He died July 25, 1994. She had been employed as a secretary at the Rock Island Arsenal ARRCOM from which she retired. Previously she had worked at Moline Iron Works, Kneen’s Department Store in Geneseo, and Geneseo Junior High School cafeteria. She was a member of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Circle 14, previously Circle 7, and past president of Queen of Victory of the church. She was also a member of the Geneseo Moose Lodge. She volunteered at the Geneseo Senior Citizens Center, enjoyed traveling, reading, playing bingo and gardening.

Survivors include a son and spouse, Steven and Sharon Lofgren of Geneseo; three daughters and spouses, Janet and Daryl DeGerengel of Geneseo, Linda and Thomas D. Clark of Colona and Pamela and Joseph Talbot Sr. of Concord, N.C.; nine grandchildren and spouses, Steven and Lori Lofgren, Jason Lofgren, Marilyn and Kyle Noard, Brian and Jenni DeGerengel, Melissa and Scott Henson, Joshua and Hannah Clark, Joseph and Stephanie Talbot Jr., Jeff and Erin Talbot, and Vicky Talbot; seven great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Ella May Winger of Silvis and Barb Fay of Mount Morris, and a sister-in-law Linda Pisman of Hampton. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Gloria; a sister, Marion Humberstone, and a brother, John Pisman. A special thank you to Dr. Ford and the staff of Good Samaritan Village for their excellent care.
