Mary C. Heller, 54, of Geneseo, died Thursday, June 4, 2009, at home. Funeral services were held Monday, June 8, at Vandemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Geneseo. Deacon Tom Wachtel officiated. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation rites were accorded and a private inurnment service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Atkinson Fire Department and Hammond-Henry Circle of Care.

She was born Sept. 9, 1954, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (VanCamp) Cetanyan. She married Gary Heller Oct. 4, 1986, in Davenport. She retired from the Davenport Police Department as a Corporal after 13 years of service. She was a member of the Rock River Valley Skydivers, the Family Readiness Group for soldiers in Iraq, and the Geneseo Park District Community Quilters Guild. She made greeting cards and loved quilting and her cat, Bubs.

Survivors include her husband, Gary; a daughter, Amoreen Armetta of Brooklyn, N.Y.; her mother, Mary A. Cetanyan of Davenport; a brother and spouse, Joe and Beth Cetanyan of Bettendorf, Iowa; two sisters and spouse, Geri and Brian Richter of East Moline and Karen Cetanyan of Davenport; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Mary Jane.
