Loretta Mae Swarts Coné, 80, of Kewanee, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee. Deacon Marty VanMeltabeck officiated. Visitation was held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kewanee. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Good Samaritan Village.
She was born Aug. 5, 1929, in Kewanee, the daughter of Alphonse “Jack” and Mazie (Agnew) Arch. She married Robert Swarts Sept. 23, 1950, in Kewanee. He died July 7, 1956. She later married James J. Coné Jr. on Feb. 23, 1985, in Kewanee. He died Jan. 4, 2010. She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1947 and Black Hawk School of Nursing in 1978. She worked as a secretary at Boss Manufacturing and as a nurse at Kewanee Hospital until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Her hobbies included gardening, traveling and doing crafts.
Survivors include a daughter and spouse, Kathy and Donald Gleason of Geneseo; a stepdaughter and spouse, Elizabeth and Peter Golesteanu of LaGrange; two stepsons and spouses, Michael and Julia Coné of Galesburg and Donald and Sue Coné of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one sister and spouse, Patricia and Don Fredrickson-Olson of Prior Lake, Minn.
