Marvin F. Spiegel, 83, of Geneseo, formerly of Kewanee, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service was held Monday, Jan. 11, at Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee. The Rev. Lou Zuck officiated. Visitation was held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Private inurnment was at Evergreen Memory Gardens, rural Kewanee. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
He was born Dec. 3, 1926, in Cornwall township, the son of Frederick W. and Margaret M. (Gold) Spiegel. He married Ruby A. Roark Sept. 12, 1954, in Toulon. She died May 27, 1995. He later married Evelyn Foes on June 26, 1996, in Geneseo. He graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1944. He had farmed in the Kewanee area for many years. His hobbies and occupation were feeding cattle and raising livestock. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Geneseo, the Henry County Farm Bureau and a former member of the Henry County Livestock Feeders. He enjoyed trains and family outings.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; a son and spouse, Fred and Laura Spiegel of Kewanee; a daughter and spouse, Delores and David Farmer of Geneseo; five grandchildren and spouse, Sarah and Mike Sunstrom of Geneseo, Amanda Farmer of Columbia, S.C., and Jennifer, Margaret and Richard Spiegel, all of Kewanee. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, a sister and a brother.
