Betty Gradert, 85, of Annawan, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Geneseo. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson. The Rev. Dan Wright will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Annawan. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Betty Gradert Memorial Fund.
She was born Jan. 21, 1924, in Henry, the daughter of William and DeEtta (Henkins) Rambo, Sr. She married Marion Gradert July 18, 1942, in Annawan. He preceded her in death. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Annawan, and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, watching birds and her cats.
Survivors include a son, Larry Gradert of Annawan; two grandchildren, Doug Gradert of Hooppole and Mary Gradert of Davenport, Iowa; two great-grandchildren, and two brothers and spouse, William and Eunice Rambo, Jr. of Annawan and Ronald John Rambo, Sr. of Geneseo. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Chad Gradert.
