Darlene H. Hulslander, 84, of Geneseo, died Friday, July 25, 2008, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Funeral services were held July 28, at First United Methodist Church, Geneseo. The Rev. T.J. Johnson officiated. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee. Visitation was July 27, at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo. Memorials may be made to the Darlene Hulslander Memorial Fund.

She was born Dec. 4, 1923, in Kewanee, the daughter of Henry Bernard and Pearl Leona (Burger) Viane. She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1941, and then married Orland Hulslander April 4, 1942, in Kewanee. He died Sept. 5, 1985. She and her husband farmed for several years in the Hillsdale and Annawan area until moving to Geneseo in 1959. She was employed as a secretary at Hutchinson Farm Management from February 1960 until retiring April 1, 1991. She was a member of Geneseo First United Methodist Church and AARP. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, dancing and baking.

Survivors include a daughter and spouse, Cheryl and Jim DeSplinter of Moline; six grandchildren and spouses, Shelly and Chuck Goreth of Geneseo, Tonya and Kirk Nystrom of Dephne, Ala., Kim and Greg Cole of Tampico, Curt and Mary Ann Poling of Pelver, Wis., David and Jennifer Poling of Metamora and Johnny Cumstock of Joliet; two step-grandchildren and spouses, Brad and Koren DeSplinter of Sugarland, Texas and Rob and Julie DeSplinter of Oceanside, Calif.; 16 great-grandchildren, and 11 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Bonnie Poling, and two brothers, Donald and Dean Viane.
