Edna H. Klyaic, 97, of Geneseo, a resident of Hammond-Henry Hospital Extended Care Unit, died there Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010. A commemoration of her life will be at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo, on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to Hammond-Henry Hospital Extended Care Unit, Geneseo.

Edna Hanna Christine Grewe was born Jan. 31, 1912, in DesPlaines, the eighth child of 14 of Gustave Grewe and Martha Beyer. She married Mike “Fuzzy” Klyaic June 20, 1938, in Chicago. She and Mike had no children. He died in 1986. She would have celebrated her 98th birthday three days from her passing. The couple lived for many years in Chicago until they retired and moved to Genoa City, Wis., where they tended a small farm with goats, sheep and poultry. She moved to Geneseo in 2001 and was a resident  of Good Samaritan Apartments and Liberty Village until becoming a resident of Hammond-Henry Extended Care in 2005. She was a housewife, as well as bookkeeper for Fuzzy’s Auto Repair Shop. She assisted in managing rental property she and her husband owned in Chicago and Genoa City. She was a great cook and gardener. She loved tending to their animals, doing crafts, volunteer work, picking berries, canning, making jam and jelly and was known for baking delicious apple pies. All who came in contact with her knew her as a kind person with a sweet disposition.

Survivors include a brother and spouse, Gustave “Jack” and Joyce Grewe of Plainfield, Wis., and many nephews, nieces, great and great-great-nephews and nieces. Among them, Craig (Kathy) Patterson of Geneseo and children Sara and Kady; John (Noreen) Patterson of Waukegan and children Kristen and Shane; Rodney (Carol Severino) Patterson of North Liberty, Iowa, and Michael and Cedric; Leonard (Maxine) Grewe of Weyauwega, Wis., and children Annette Jacobs, Daniel Grewe and Connie Grewe; Leslie Grewe, Linda Holz, Alan (Wendy) Grewe of Unity, Wis.; Beverly (Pete) Hanson of Merrill, Wis., Larry (Ruth) Grewe, Karen (Dan) Sandberg; Margaret Krugler; Richard (Alice) Seidler, Doug (Katherine) Seidler; Paul (Linda) Grewe, Norma Shirley Schmidt, Sandra Sahn, and Susan Wegner and Carol Jean “Cookie” Hoag.   She was preceded in death by her husband; her brothers, Fred, Elmer, Melvin, Oscar, Howard and Wilber, and by her sisters, Mary Grewe, Esther Koppa, Florence Seidler, Mildred
Golish, Eleanora Anderson and Anita Otter.
