John C. Dalin, 81, of Geneseo died Sunday, June 14, 2009 at his home. Per his requests cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services celebrating his life will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 19, at Vandemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Geneseo. Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate. Inurnment will be private. Memorial may be left to the Geneseo Humane Society Animal Shelter.

He was born on Feb. 12, 1928, in Chicago, the son of Arvid and Anna (Adams) Dalin. He married Carolyn D. Landgren March 26, 1955, in Crystal Lake. She died in 2006. He had been employed at A. B. Dick Company in Niles as a lift truck mechanic for 28 years from which he retired. He enjoyed walking and spending time with his pets.

Survivors include two sons and spouses, Mike and Sam Dalin of Geneseo and Steven and Elizabeth Dalin of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren, Robert, Katherine, Abigail and James Dalin. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ardelle Massman.
