The Friends of the Canal will hold their monthly Hike the Canal outing May 19. This month’s hike will be from Bridge 62 to Lock 22 on the canal. Hikers are to meet at Lock 22 at 1:30 p.m. to be shuttled to Bridge 62 to begin the hike. Hikers need not be a member of the Friends to join in on any of the hikes, and there is no fee for the hikes. Geneseo’s Kylie Lembke has announced her plans to attend Monmouth College this fall and play for the Fighting Scots women’s soccer team. As a junior, Lembke was a first-team NIB 12 Conference selection. She is the daughter of Loren and Ann Lembke of Geneseo. She is considering majoring in communication studies.

Storm and the Cyclones will next compete in the Big 12 Championships May 3-5 in Waco, Texas.

Geneseo graduates Karissa Herrman and Kassi Anderson are freshman members of the Black Hawk College softball team. Herrman has played in 27 games and scored 11 runs, 12 hits, three doubles and two RBIs. Anderson has seen action in 27 games and scored 13 runs, 20 hits, five doubles, one triple, one home run and nine RBIs.
