The Maple Leafs boys’ basketball team was unable to get a measure of revenge against LaSalle-Peru on Jan. 27.

The Maple Leafs fell on the road 50-44 against the Cavaliers, and L-P’s Peyton Sampson scored a game-high 22 points.

Geneseo was a score away starting the fourth quarter trailing 31-28, but the Leafs poor 3-point shooting (17 percent) caught up with them.

The Maple Leafs’ Isaiah Rivera scored five points in the fourth quarter to try to lead a comeback charge, however, the Cavaliers made 6-of-8 free throws to close out the game down the stretch.

GHS’ Rivera finished with a team-high 14 points, five rebounds and a steal.

Geneseo’s Jacob Pauley scored 12 points and led the team with 11 rebounds.

Anthony Bravata finished with nine points, and Keaton Rice scored five points.

Matthew Ganson hit a fourth quarter 3-pointer for Geneseo, and Charlie Wiese made 1-of-2 from the free-throw line.

Earlier this season, the Maple Leafs lost to LaSalle-Peru 44-36 to open the NIB 12 West Conference season.
