Another year, another win for the Geneseo girls’ cross country team at the Annawan Invite.

The Lady Leafs won the team title for the second consecutive season, and Geneseo’s Josie Brown (19:12.0) finished in second place individually.

The Lady Leafs’ team score outdistanced runner-up Annawan-Wethersfield by 41 points in the 11-team field at Kewanee Dunes Golf Course on Aug. 28.

The Leafs’ had 10 runners finish in the top 20, and five in the top 10.

Geneseo’s Anna Girten raced to a fifth place time of 20:16.2, and Lauren Belvel finished seventh in 20:34.2.

The Leafs’ Julia Poel crossed the finish line in eighth in 20:37.4, and Veronica Eilers finished 10th in 21:22.7.

Claire Hall came in 11th place (21:35.1), and Adia Raya finished in 17th place (22:36.9).

Geneseo had a great showing from its freshmen runners.

Tricia Elden raced to a 18th place time of 22:51.1, Avery Magerkurth was a spot back in 19th (22:51.3) and Megan Soria landed 20th in 22:59.1.

The Leafs’ next meet will be at the Galesburg Invite, at Lake Storey Park, on Saturday, Sept. 2 starting at 9 a.m.
