Geneseo at Rock Falls

The Lady Leafs were defeated by Rock Falls 25-17, 25-17 on Aug. 31.

Lily Gerth continued to have a solid start to the season leading the Lady Leafs with five kills and added a block assist.

Rachel Daniels led the Leafs with 10 assists and she added five digs.

Geneseo’s Hannah Adams tallied nine assists and added an assist.

The Leafs’ Breanna Smith notched four kills and added a block assist, and Maggi Weller finished with nine digs and an ace.

The Lady Leafs’ Hannah Himmelman recorded four kills, and Elli Weller finished with six digs.

The Geneseo freshmen team split a pair of matches with the A team earning a 28-26, 25-20 win, and the B team falling 28-26, 25-22.

The Leafs’ sophomores came up short against Rock Falls, 25-19, 25-13.

Limestone Invite

The Leafs finished the tournament 3-2 for a third-place finish at Limestone Community High School on Sept. 2.

The Lady Leafs lost their opening match to host Limestone 25-19, 25-14.

The Leafs’ Emily Pobanz led the way with six kills, and Himmelman added five kills and two blocks.

Geneseo rebounded with a 25-23, 25-20 victory over Springfield Southeast.

Daniels set up the offense with 12 assists, and Weller finished with a team high 12 digs.

Himmelman led the way with five kills and two blocks, while Gerth tacked on four kills.

In the Lady Leafs’ third match, Geneseo defeated Canton in a three set battle 23-25, 25-22, 15-4.

Adams served up four aces, and Pobanz was dynamic with nine kills.

Weller tallied 12 digs, and Daniels finished with 12 assists.

Facing off against Bradley-Bourbonnais, Geneseo’s winning streak came to an end falling 26-24, 25-22.

Mariah Smith tallied a pair of kills, and Breanna Smith finished with four blocks.

In Geneseo’s final game, the Leafs topped Washington in three sets 25-21, 18-25, 15-12.

Himmelman put away nine kills, and Breanna Smith finished with six blocks.

The Leafs’ Weller led the team with 14 digs and she added a pair of aces.
