The Lady Leafs’ cross country team finished runner-up at the Rock Island Invitational, and Josie Brown finished runner-up at Saukie Golf Course on Sept. 21.

The Leafs’ Brown (19:04) was second individually behind Alleman’s Addie Pulley who won the race in 18:40.

Geneseo (49) was second in the game race 10 points away from champion Moline (39).

The Leafs’ Anna Girten raced to eighth place in 20:22.2, and Lauren Belvel was just a few steps back in ninth (20:22.3).

Julia Poel crossed the finish line in 14th in 21:02, and Anna Pierce finished 16th in 21:30.

Geneseo’s Claire Hall captured 17th in 21:31, and Megan Soria finished 19th in 21:32 to round out the varsity times.

The Lady Leafs had a slew of runners in the top 25.

Adia Raya landed 21st in 21:43, and Emma Terronez finished 22nd in 21:43.

A freshman, the Lady Leafs’ Avery Magerkurth ran down 23rd in 21:43, and Veronica Eilers finished in 24th place in 21:46.

The Lady Leafs’ will have their top seven runners compete at the Peoria Invite at Detweiller Park, in Peoria, on Saturday, Sept. 30.

The rest of the Geneseo team will compete at the Freeport Pretzel Invite, held at Highland Community College, in Freeport, at 9:30 a.m.
