The Maple Leafs fell behind two goals by halftime, but Geneseo scored three unanswered goals in the second half to earn a 4-3 victory at the Geneseo Soccer Complex on Oct. 5.

Geneseo’s Zach Bauer made seven stops in net to silence the Hubs in the second half.

Geneseo at Sterling

The Maple Leafs stood toe-to-toe with the Golden Warriors in the first half, but Sterling was able to pull away for a 6-2 victory, on Oct. 10.

Geneseo scored a pair of goals in just under two minutes to get to halftime tied with Sterling who had won 10 consecutive matches.

Geneseo's Griffin Tracey scored with an assist from Reed Vanderheyden.

The Leafs' Ryan Daly found the back of the net with another Vanderheyden assist.

Sterling came out inspired after halftime scoring a pair of goals in the opening 10 minutes of the second half.

With the victory, Sterling locked down its fourth consecutive NIB 12 West title.

With Geneseo receiving the No. 6 seed in the Peoria Notre Dame Sectional, Geneseo will play host Galesburg (No. 4 seed) in the Class 2A Galesburg Regional semifinals on Tuesday, Oct. 17 starting at 7 p.m.
