United Township at Geneseo

The Lady Leafs snagged a 25-19, 25-21 Senior Night victory against the Panthers, in Geneseo, on Oct. 12.

Geneseo senior Lily Gerth was the team leader in kills with nine in the match, and Hannah Himmelman tallied seven kills for the Leafs.

Ellie Weller took care of the Geneseo defense with 24 digs, and Rachel Daniels was the team leader in assists with 14.

A senior, Caitlin Gilmore finished with an ace and four digs, and Mariah Smith finished with a dig and a block.

Geneseo’s Breanna Smith tacked on three kills, and Hannah Adams finished with nine assists and six digs.

The Lady Leafs’ Emily Pobanz finished with four kills, and Alex Horne tallied three kills.

Geneseo’s Maggi Weller finished with four digs, an assist and an ace.

Eastland Tournament

Geneseo finished fifth at the Eastland Tournament, and Himmelman was named to the All-Tournament team, on Oct. 14.

Geneseo finished the day with a pair of wins, two ties and a loss.

In the opener, Geneseo tied with Riverdale 22-25, 25-19.

The Leafs’ Himmelman and Pobanz finished with a team-high five kills each, and Daniels tallied 10 assists in the match.

The Leafs’ Gerth tacked on four kills, and Horne finished with three kills.

Elli Weller was the team leader in digs with 11, and Maggi Weller finished with nine digs and an ace.

Adams proved she could do it all with two aces, five assists and nine digs, and Gilmore finished with four digs.

Against Stockton, Geneseo played to a 25-21, 15-25 tie with an all-around team performance.

Gerth was the team leader with three kills, and Daniels finished with seven assists.

Himmelman notched a pair of kills and a pair of digs, and Breanna Smith finished with a pair of kills and an ace.

Elli Weller and Maggi Weller each tallied six digs, and Adams finished with three assists and two digs.

Pobanz tacked on a pair of kills, and Gilmore finished with three digs.

Against Milledgeville, Geneseo dominated for a 25-12, 25-13 victory.

The Lady Leafs’ Elli Weller, Mariah Smith and Breanna Smith each finished with a team-high three saves.

Maggi Weller tallied seven digs, and Adams finished with a team-high eight assists.

Geneseo’s Daniels tacked on five assists, and Elli Weller had an impressive five aces.

Henderson notched an ace and a dig, and Himmelman finished with a pair of kills and an ace.

The Leafs’ Horne tacked on a pair of kills.

Against Durand, Geneseo suffered their only loss of the day 25-11, 25-21.

The Leafs’ Daniels had a strong game with nine assists and eight digs, and Elli Weller tacked on seven digs.

Breanna Smith finished with a team-high five kills, and Pobanz tacked on three kills.

Gilmore had a strong defensive game with eight digs, and Gerth added two kills.

Maggi Weller tallied five digs and an ace, and Adams finished with six assists and four digs.

Himmelman notched two kills and two aces, and Mariah Smith finished with two kills and two digs.

In the fifth-place match, Geneseo earned a victory over 1A State runner-up Eastland 25-23, 25-16.

Geneseo’s Pobanz finished with a team-high six kills, and Himmelman added five kills.

Gilmore was the team leader in aces with two, and Adams finished with a team-high eight assists.

Daniels did a little bit of everything finishing with eight digs, five assists and an ace.

Elli Weller finished with two kills, four assists, seven digs and an ace.

Gerth tacked on three kills, and Horne finished with two kills and a dig.

Geneseo at Rochelle

The Lady Leafs reached the 15 win mark defeating Rochelle 25-23, 25-18, on Oct. 17.

Breanna Smith was on fire finished with a team-high eight kills, and she tacked on three digs for Geneseo (15-12-2).

Himmelman tallied seven kills and two digs, and Daniels finished with a team-high 14 assists.

Adams did her part with nine assists and seven digs, and Pobanz finished with four kills.

Elli Weller provided the defense with 13 digs, and Gerth finished with three kills.

Maggi Weller tallied five digs and one ace, and Horne finished with two kills and three digs.

The Lady Leafs’ next match will be as hosts of the Class 3A Geneseo Regional.

Geneseo (8) will take on Kewanee (10) in the opening round on Monday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m.

The winner will face second-seeded Sterling on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 5:30 p.m.
