Geneseo’s Brown finished fifth in 20:20 at Donovan Park, in Peoria, on Oct. 21.

Class 2A state favorite, Dunlap won the regional title with 58 points, and Geneseo landed fourth (88 points) among a nine-team field.

The Lady Leafs’ team finish advanced them to the Normal University Sectional, at Maxwell Park, in Normal, on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m.

Geneseo’s Lauren Belvel ran down 15th place in 21:33, and Anna Girten finished 16th in 21:35.

The Leafs’ Julia Poel crossed the finish line in 23rd place in 21:53, and Megan Soria finished 29th in 22:19.

Geneseo’s Anna Pierce landed 31st in 22:27, and Claire Hall finished 34th in 22:37.

Geneseo’s top five was separated by 1:59.3, and the Leafs top seven was separated by 2:17.1.

The top five teams, and top seven individuals not on an advancing team at the Normal University Sectional, will advance to the state meet at Detweiller Park, in Peoria, on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m.
