A senior, Blake Duncan paced Geneseo with a 31st-place finish in 16:15 on the three-mile course.

With seven individual qualifying spots up for grabs at the sectional, Duncan was just 14 seconds away from landing the final individual qualifying spot at the state meet.

Geneseo’s Neo Colter raced his way to a 73rd-place finish in 17:12, and William Plumley finished in 77th place in 17:17.

The Leafs’ Raymond Venneberg captured an 82nd-place finish in 17:23, and Colby Rapps finished 91st in 17:42.

The Maple Leafs’ Rafe Morrison landed 91st with a time of 17:42, and Christian Booth finished in 99th place in 17:59.

From one-to-five, Geneseo was separated by only a 1:05, and one-to-seven, Geneseo was separated by only 1:44.

With two teams who are favorites to win the state title in Class 2A according to il.milesplit.com, Mahomet-Seymour (41) won the sectional team crown in a head-to-head battle with runner-up Normal U-High (65).
