The Lady Leafs’ basketball team fell against Yorkville and defeated Northern Illinois Big 12 West foe LaSalle-Peru.

Yorkville at Geneseo

The Lady Leafs couldn’t cool off the hot hand of the Lady Foxes’ Lauren Daffenberg.

Daffenberg scored a game-high 26 points to lead Yorkville to a 60-52 victory over Geneseo, on Dec. 14.

The Lady Leafs’ Anna McAvoy scored a team-high 18 points including six points in the fourth quarter to try to lift Geneseo back into the game.

Geneseo’s Mariah Smith came alive in the fourth quarter scoring eight points, and she finished with 12 points.

Josie Brown scored six points in the fourth quarter and finished with nine points.

Geneseo’s Hannah Himmelman scored five points, and Heather Dietrich finished with four points.

The Leafs’ Keeli Frerichs and Jane Thomas each finished with two points.

Geneseo at LaSalle-Peru

The Lady Leafs closed out the Cavaliers with a dominant fourth quarter, on Dec. 19.

Geneseo defeated LaSalle-Peru 51-33, and the Leafs outscored the Cavaliers 22-5 in the fourth quarter.

With Geneseo leading 29-28 after three quarters, Brown scored eight points in the final frame to fuel the Lady Leafs’ victory.

Himmelman led the way scoring a game-high 16 points, and McAvoy finished with 11 points.

Frerichs tacked on five points, and Smith finished with four points.

Thomas drained a 3-pointer, and Kaitlyn Webster finished with two points.

The Lady Leafs’ next games will be at the State Farm Holiday Classic which hosts some of the best teams in the state of Illinois from Dec. 27-Dec. 30 at multiple sites in Bloomington and Normal.

Geneseo (7-2) will start the tournament against No. 5 seeded Normal Community (9-3) at Bloomington Central Catholic Gym on Dec. 27 at 9:30 p.m.
