Geneseo’s Kyler Rusk became the first boys’ bowler to earn a sectional berth.

Rusk rolled his way to a 16th-place finish and an 1187 six-game series at the Sycamore Regional at Mardi Gras Lanes, in DeKalb, on Jan. 13.

Rusk became the first Geneseo individual to reach the sectional round after Alex Williams finished just 15 pins shy of advancing last season with an 1156 six-game series.

With the top four teams advancing to the DeKalb Sectional, Freeport won the team title (6326), and Geneseo (5413) finished eighth in the team standings.

Kyle Cones finished 24th with an 1174 series, and Sebastian Einfeldt finished 31st 1144 series.

Braeden Keller finished in 53rd with a 978 series, and Kaden Splear finished with a four-game series of 654.

Justin Ford finished with a two-game series of 276.

Rusk had the eighth-best advancing individual score which punched his ticket to the DeKalb Sectional, at Mardi Gras Lanes, DeKalb, on Saturday, Jan. 20.
