The Pirates were firing on all cylinders in the first half and sank the Maple Leafs 76-45, on Senior Night, on Feb. 16.

The Pirates were driving right to the hoop and when the Maple Leafs crashed inside Ottawa would kick the ball back outside for an open 3-pointer.

Ottawa’s Myles Tucker played like he was on a mission finishing with 28 points.

A sophomore, Tucker swished his first 3-pointer in front of a big Geneseo student section to silence the Maple Leafs’ crowd, and Tucker finished with six 3-pointers.

The Maple Leafs’ Isaiah Rivera and Kaden Rink kept the score close early.

Rink made a pair of baskets early to help Geneseo grab an early 6-4 lead, before

Ottawa charged out to an 11-6 advantage in the first quarter.

Rivera hit a 3-pointer to cut Ottawa’s lead to 13-9 with three minutes remaining in the first.

The Pirates caught fire in the second quarter building a 37-15 lead before Geneseo’s Jacob McConnell ended a 17-2 run with a layup with 2:09 remaining before halftime.

A sophomore, Rivera finished with a team-high 18 points.

Geneseo’s Rink tacked on 10 points, and Jarron Nordstrom finished with six points.

The Leafs’ Christian Duckwitz and Mick Haverland each drained a 3-pointer.

Geneseo’s Zach Wilson finished with two points, and Mitchel Benhart made 1-of-2 from the free-throw line.

Galesburg at Geneseo

The Silver Streaks showed why they were seeded No. 2 in the subsectional, defeating the Maple Leafs 77-39 on Feb. 17.

Galesburg ran out to a 33-16 halftime lead including a 12-2 run in the second quarter.

Rivera scored 20 points and added eight rebounds, and McConnell chipped in seven points.

Nordstrom scored five points and grabbed four rebounds, and Haverland finished with three points and three rebounds.

The Leafs’ Tracey made 1-of-2 from the free-throw line.

Geneseo will start postseason play at the Class 3A Dunlap Regional on Monday, Feb. 26.

The Maple Leafs will face off against Chillicothe (IVC) in the opening round at 7 p.m.
