The Maple Leafs’ Nick Swartzendruber won a pair of titles at the NIB 12 Invite, and Geneseo finished fourth in the team race on March 17.

Being mindful of the Illinois Top Times Invite on March 24, Geneseo’s focus was to reach personal bests and qualify for spots in the Top Times Invite.

The Maple Leafs finished fourth (61) in the team race behind champion Kaneland (89), runner-up DeKalb (82) and third place Yorkville (79).

A senior, Swartzendruber won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.17 at Sterling’s Westwood Sports Complex.

The Leafs’ 4x400-relay team of Reed Vanderheyden, Kaden Rink, Colton Pischke and Swartzendruber raced to a title in 3:33.06 and finished nearly four seconds ahead of runner-up Morris.

Vanderheyden tacked on a pair of runner-up finishes with a second place finish in the 60 hurdles (8.56), and he finished second in the 400 dash (53.04).

A senior, Nathan Lambert continued his strong start to the season finishing second in the high jump clearing 6’.

GHS’ Kaden Rink ran down fourth place in the 800 in 2:05.31, and Raymond Venneberg finished fourth in the pole vault clearing 12’.

Cameron Darin nabbed fifth in the pole vault clearing 11’, and Blake Duncan raced to a fifth-place finish in 4:43.09.

Pischke added a fifth-place place finish in the hurdles with a time of 8.67, and Billy Blaser finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 45’3.25”.

Geneseo’s 4x200 relay team of Mason Jones, Ryver Griffin, Jordan Seeley and Nathan Carroll finished sixth with a time of 1:41.06.

The Leafs’ 4x800 relay team of Rafe Morrison, Sebastian Einfeldt, Luke Sebastian and Neo Colter finished sixth with a time of 9:27.74.
