Geneseo at Moline

The Lady Leafs had no shortage of big innings in the mercy rule-shortened 11-1 victory in five innings over the Maroons at Moline High School on March 22.

After starting the game with a three-run first inning, Geneseo’s Delaney Ostrowski singled to plate a pair of runs in the fourth inning, and Allison Yager hit an RBI single to push the lead to 6-0.

In the fifth inning, Yager singled to bring home two runs and Kaitlyn McKeag doubled to bring home a run.

Geneseo’s Caitlin Gilmore singled and tallied an RBI in the fifth, and Anna McAvoy drew a walk to bring home a run with the bases loaded.

A senior, Gilmore finished 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, and McAvoy reached base three times with a double and a pair of walks.

Geneseo’s Mary Thomas singled to drive in a run, and Bailey Spindel plated a run on a sacrifice fly to center.

A senior, Jane pitching five innings, allowing three hits and one run with one strikeout.

Geneseo vs. James Madison

The Lady Leafs fell in the opener 9-1 against James Madison at the Myrtle Beach Invitational, in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

James Madison’s Alex Echazarreta pitched a complete game, allowing one unearned run and racked up 13 strikeouts.

Geneseo’s Ava Bieneman scored on an error, and Bailey Mitchell finished with two hits including a double.

Geneseo vs. Buckhannon-Upshur

The Geneseo bats came to scoring 12 runs on 11 hits to defeat Buckhannon-Upshur 12-0 in three innings.

Geneseo scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning and added another five runs in the second.

Caitlin Gilmore finished 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, and Allison Yager drove in a pair of runs for the Leafs.

Delaney Ostrowski tripled and drove in a run, and Ava Bieneman finished 3-for-3 with a double.

Anna McAvoy had a pair of hits and tallied an RBI, and Jane Thomas had a pair of hits including a triple.

The Leafs’ Rachel Shoemaker doubled and drove in a run.

Jane earned her third win of the season in the circle allowing one hit over three innings with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Geneseo vs. Westerville, Ohio

Jane Thomas delivered the game-winning single in extra innings to earn Geneseo a 5-4 victory over Westerville, Ohio.

After Westerville tied the game in the seventh, Jane’s single in the eighth inning scored Hannah Himmelman for the go-ahead run.

Jane picked up the win in the circle by sitting down Westerville in order to lock up her fourth win of the season.

With Westerville taking a 3-0 lead in the third inning, Geneseo rallied in the fifth Gilmore’s double scored two runs to get Geneseo on the board, and Ostrowski singled to bring home another run.

Bieneman continued to swing a hot bat at the top of the order finishing 3-for-4 with a double.
