The Lady Leafs’ soccer team rolled to a win on Senior Night and defeated future conference foes from the Western Big 6.

Rochelle at Geneseo

The Lady Leafs’ seniors were setting each other up for scores at every opportunity during their 9-0 victory over Rochelle at the Geneseo Soccer Pitch on May 3.

Geneseo scored five goals in the first 13 minutes of the match as senior players cycled in and out of the lineup for chances to score.

Geneseo’s Ellie Korthals scored the opening goal on an assist from Kennady Thies, and Korthals set up Lauren Henderson for a score just a minute later.

Thies scored a pair of goals, and Heather Dietrich scored on a long drop kick from keeper Lauren Pardoe.

A senior, Melanie Parker scored on a pass from Korthals, and Rachel Daniels found the back of the net.

Keighly Shoemaker scored a pair of second-half goals to add to Geneseo’s lead.

McKenzie Davison added an assist, and Pardoe earned the shutout in net.

“We are trying to get to that level and finish off the season at the top of our game,” Geneseo Coach Harvey Morton said. “We have been working on some things, and it did start to show in that UT game. We just need to keep that rolling.”

Geneseo at Rock Island

Geneseo scored three first-half goals and cruised to a 7-0 victory, at Almquist Field, in Rock Island, on May 4.

The Lady Leafs’ Thies scored with an assist from Daniels, and Taylor DeSplinter found the back of the net.

Korthals scored with a pass from Thies to keep Geneseo in control.

Moline at Geneseo

The Lady Leafs came away with another quality win against a WB6 team defeating the Maroons 2-0 at the Geneseo Soccer Pitch on May 7.

Geneseo scored two first-half goals to complete a season sweep in WB6 contests.

The Leafs' Keeli Frerichs scored in the seventh minute, and Lauren Henderson found the back of the net in the 22nd minute.

This season Geneseo has wins against Moline, Rock Island and United Township (5-0) with inclement weather early in the season canceling contests against Galesburg and Alleman.

Geneseo at Sterling

The Lady Leafs’ defense was questionable to start the season, but those questions seem to have been answered as the Lady Leafs picked up their fifth consecutive shutout win.

Geneseo dominated defeating Sterling 5-0 at Roscoe Eades Stadium on May 8.

Dietrich scored to give Geneseo a lead early, and DeSplinter scored on a penalty kick.

Frerichs scored a pair of second-half goals, and Daniels added a late score.
