The Maple Leafs finished runner-up (43 points) in the team standings behind Sterling (55 points) with play concluding at Boylan Catholic, in Rockford, on May 14.

Gallagher and Haverland won the championship match in convincing fashion with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Yorkville’s Briggs Krempski and Sam Clough.

Gallagher and Haverland started the tournament as the No. 2 seed and won the first round match 6-1, 6-1 against the duo from Rochelle.

Geneseo’s duo picked up a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Ottawa’s Nathan Meyer and Logan Olszewski to advance to the championship match.

The Leafs’ Ben Ford and Dylan Hart finished third in the No. 2 doubles bracket earning a 10-5 victory in the third-place match.

Mason Miller earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory in the consolation round of the No. 1 singles bracket, and he was defeated in a close fifth-place match 8-6.

Geneseo’s Patrick Turpin and Luke Chaney claimed a runner-up finish in No. 3 doubles falling 6-3, 6-1 in the championship match against Sterling.

Griffin Tracey earned an opening round victory at No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 6-2 win.

A junior, Tracey was defeated by Yorkville’s Jon Waugh who earned the top seed in the No. 2 singles bracket.

Tracey landed fourth falling in a tight third-place match 10-4.

Geneseo’s next matches will be at the Class 1A Sterling Sectional on Friday, May 18.

Individuals advancing to the sectional semifinal matches will earn a guaranteed berth to the IHSA State Tournament held at multiple sites in the suburbs of Chicago beginning on Thursday, May 24.
