The Geneseo Senior Legion baseball team battled Abingdon to extra innings and finished runner-up in the Nolan Keane Memorial Tournament in Kewanee.

Abingdon at Geneseo

Abingdon pushed across a run in the top of the 13th inning to earn a win in a marathon game 9-8 over Geneseo.

Geneseo started the game strong taking an 8-1 lead by the end of the second inning at Stone Field on June 14.

However, Abingdon scored a run in the fifth and six runs in the eighth inning to tie the game.

Geneseo smashed 19 hits in the game and drove in seven runs.

Zac Olson finished with four hits and drove in three runs with two steals.

A junior-to-be, Mitchel Benhart slugged three hits and drove in two runs.

Kyle Wise finished with three hits including a triple, Jake Winslow doubled and Tyler Green tallied three hits.

Jacob McConnell started the game and pitched four scoreless innings allowing two hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Green pitched three-and-a-third scoreless innings allowing one hit with one walk and two strikeouts.

Nolan Keane Memorial Tournament

Geneseo won a pair of games in pool play and finished runner-up at the tournament in Kewanee which concluded on June 17.

Geneseo vs. Galesburg

PJ Moser, Ty Johnson and Green combined to pitch a shutout, and Geneseo defeated Galesburg 5-0.

Moser earned the win on the mound pitching three scoreless innings allowing two hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

A senior-to-be, Johnson pitched three scoreless

innings allowing one hit with no walks and three strikeouts.

Green finished off the game pitching a clean seventh to close out the game.

Cole Hartman finished with a pair of hits and drove in a run, and Logan Loitz notched two hits.

Dylan Pardoe and Colton Garcia each notched a hit

and drove in a run, and Erik Stenzel tallied an RBI.

Geneseo vs. Peoria

Geneseo hung on for a 7-5 victory over Peoria in the second pool play game.

Geneseo led 6-0 after the second inning and added a run in the fifth.

Peoria roared back scoring four runs in the sixth inning before Geneseo closed out the game.

Wise drove in three runs, and Olson finished with two hits and drove in a run.

Payton Clauson doubled, and Garcia singled and drove in a run.

Kyle Pittenger earned the win on the mound pitching five innings allowing one run on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

After allowing four runs to cross in the sixth inning, Johnson entered the game and allowed one hit on his way to earning the save.

Geneseo vs. Galesburg

In the semifinal game, Clauson pitched a complete-game shutout to led Geneseo to a 6-0 victory on June 17.

A senior-to-be, Clauson earned the win on the mound allowing just three hits with no walks and three strikeouts.

Pardoe finished with a run driven in and stole a base, and Garcia singled and drove in a run.

Hartman had an impressive game reaching base four times with two walks and two hits including a double.

Stenzel singled and drove in a run, and Olson singled and drove in a run.

Geneseo vs. Peoria

In the championship game, Geneseo was stonewalled by Peoria pitching on June 17.

Peoria scored three runs in the top of the first inning and added an insurance run in the third inning.

Geneseo managed six hits but left 11 runners on base against Peoria.

Green finished with two hits including a double, and Garcia finished with a pair of singles.
