The Geneseo High School Maplettes’ dance team participated in Universal Dance Association (UDA) camp, in East Peoria, from June 24-27.

The Geneseo High School Maplettes’ dance team participated in Universal Dance Association (UDA) camp, in East Peoria, from June 24-27.

At the camp, the team competed in a home routine competition on the first night.

Along with 15 other teams from Illinois, Iowa and Missouri, the Maplettes learned two different dances with various categories such as hip-hop, pom, and jazz that were all evaluated on the final day.

Also, they were fortunate enough to participate in master classes with choreographers Kendra Andrews and Stacy Paydo.

On the final day of camp, all members received blue ribbons for each of their routines, and the Maplettes were awarded a superior trophy.

Olivia Johnson earned the honorable Pin-It-Forward award by the UDA staff.

Lydia Wayne and Michelle Fryrear were awarded the Coaches of the Day which was awarded by the coaches of the Oswego East dance team.

The Maplettes’ Bailey McKean and Hannah Wiyrick were selected to join the UDA’s All-American team and

received an invitation to participate in the New Year’s parade in Rome, Italy.
