The Maple Leafs’ cross country team won the Silver Streak Invitational team title and competed in the prestigious First to the Finish Invite at Detweiler Park.

The Maple Leafs’ cross country team won the Silver Streak Invitational team title and competed in the prestigious First to the Finish Invite at Detweiler Park.

The Maple Leafs won their second invite of the season with two individuals finishing in the top 10 at Lake Storey Park on Sept. 4.

Geneseo’s William Plumley led the way with a third-place finish in 17:45.0, and Mid-County’s Caelin Foley won the individual title in 17:12.0.

The Maple Leafs’ Justin Johnson finished in eighth place in 18:19.8, and Rafe Morrison came in 11th place in 18:31.7.

Geneseo’s Andrew Rizzo ran down a 16th place finish in 18:45.7, and Malakai Schaad rounded out the varsity scores finishing 18th in 18:47.9.

The Leafs’ Neo Colter came in 18th place in 18:50.1, and Peter Rizzo finished 37th in 20:19.9.

First to the Finish Invite

The Maple Leafs finished 24th in the among a 56 team field at Detweiler Park, in Peoria,  on Sept. 8.

Geneseo improved its finish at the Invite that includes some of Illinois best by 13 places over last season.

Geneseo’s Plumley led the way finishing 68th individually in 16:42.7, and Johnson came in 104th in 16:59.8.

Colter ran down 162nd in 17:27.0, and Rafe Morrison claimed 169th in 17:31.1.

Geneseo’s Lucas Nicke came in 188th place in 17:40.7, and Schaad finished in 193rd place in 17:43.2.

The Leafs’ Andrew Rizzo added a 224th-place finish in 17:54.8.

The Maple Leafs’ next competition will be as hosts of the Geneseo Invitational at Richmond Hill on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 9 a.m.
