Geneseo at Sycamore

The Lady Leafs earned a pair of doubles win but fell 3-2 against Sycamore on Oct. 3.

Emma Dunker and Mary Thomas battled back for a 3-6, 6-1, 4-5 victory in No. 1 doubles, and Alli Miller and Ava Bieneman scratched out a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles.

Geneseo at DeKalb

The Lady Leafs bounced back with a 4-1 victory against DeKalb.

Emily Henson was defeated in the No. 1 singles match falling 4-6, 7-5, 10-6, and Geneseo’s Lexee Hodge battled her way to a 7-6 (2), 1-6, 10-8 victory.

Dunker and Thomas won the No. 1 doubles match 7-6 (2), 6-3, and Bieneman and Miller cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles.

Geneseo’s Ali Craig and Kaitlyn Webster nabbed a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 3 doubles.

NIB 12 Conference Tournament

The Lady Leafs finished the NIB 12 Conference tournament in sixth place and sixth overall on Oct. 6.

Earning seven points during the dual season and seven during the NIB 12 tournament, Geneseo finished fourth among Big 12 West teams at the conference tournament with Ottawa (56) winning the title.

Henson finished sixth in No. 1 singles, and Thomas and Dunker finished sixth in the No. 1 doubles bracket.

Craig and Webster earned an 8-3 victory in the No. 3 doubles third-place match to earn a medal.

Miller and Bieneman medaled finishing in a tie for fifth place at No. 2 doubles.

Hodge earned a win at No. 2 singles.

The Leafs’ next matches will be at the opening rounds of the Class 1A Dunlap Sectional, on Friday, Oct. 12 starting at 5 p.m.

Players who reach the sectional semifinal round will qualify for the IHSA state tournament hosted in the Chicago suburbs starting on Thursday, Oct. 18.
