Background: Hodges spent the past eight years at the award-winning Daily Southtown, a newspaper covering Chicago's South Side and South Suburbs. After Hodge's first year directing news, the Southtown was named newspaper of the year by Suburban Newspapers of America. Before working at the Southtown, Hodges worked at the Killeen (Texas) Daily Herald as news editor and entertainment editor, the Ely (England) Standard as news editor, and the Clovis (N.M.) Background: Toeset spent the past seven years at the Daily Southtown in the Chicago suburbs. As night copy desk chief, he led the daily production of the newspaper and was involved in page designing, editing, headline writing and more. Previously, Toeset worked in Midwest Suburban Publishing's Niche Publications department (based in Tinley Park, Ill.), where he served as editor of special sections and helped launch several monthly magazines, including the award-winning Elite magazine. He has won numerous awards for headlines and design.

Responsibilities: Covers national stories for GateHouse newspapers and is particularly focused on original projects
Background: FitzPatrick arrived at GateHouse from the Daily Southtown in suburban Chicago. She covered criminal courts and crime issues, and was part of the investigative team uncovering corruption in the government and police department in south suburban Harvey. She won an AP news award for a forensic
analysis of Emmett Till's reopened 1955 murder case, a MADD Illinois award for a drunk driving series and an SNA award for a feature on the mother of a young police officer convicted of a fatal drunk driving crash. FitzPatrick holds an MSJ from the Medill School of Journalism and a BS from Georgetown University, and while at Medill, reported from Washington, New York, Egypt and Cyprus in print and radio. She has worked in public television in Philadelphia, where she grew up. Before that, she taught English to schoolgirls in Saudi Arabia, where she wrote and edited a local expatriate newsletter.

Background: Before being named New England regional editor, Christopher Biondi was managing editor of the MetroWest Daily News in the Boston suburbs. He has been in the news business for 20 years, beginning at his hometown (Kennett Square, Pa.) weekly. At the MetroWest Daily News, he managed a central copy
desk that produces seven editions of four daily papers. Most recently he helped lead the transition bringing Web operations into the newsroom, posting more breaking news and multimedia, including video.

Background: Robert C. Matson, 48, is executive editor of the Daily Messenger and Messenger Post Newspapers, purchased by GateHouse Media in January 2007. Based in the Finger Lakes city of Canandaigua, N.Y., MPN includes 10 suburban newspapers that ring nearby Rochester. The Messenger was named best small daily newspaper in New York state by The Associated Press for two of
the past three years, and the weeklies have won numerous state and national awards for excellence. Matson has been involved with a variety of newspaper organizations and served on the advisory board of the Center for Community Journalism. He has also been an adjunct journalism professor for seven years, most recently at Syracuse University.

Background: Rick Rogers is the publisher of The Neosho (Mo.) Daily News, and has specialized in community journalism for more than 10 years. Rogers has been with the Daily News since April 2005, and with GateHouse Media (formally Liberty Group Publishing) since 1998, minus a short stint as a television news editor. He has served as managing editor of The Baxter Springs (Kan.) Citizen and The Carthage (Mo.) Press, as well as editor of Specialty Publications Division, now GateHouse Plus.
