Lois A. (Westlin) Ziles, 86, of Geneseo  died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria. A funeral Mass celebrating her life was held Saturday. March 6, at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Michael Pakula officiated.  Visitation was held one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial was in Evergreen Memory Gardens, Kewanee. Memorials may be made to the Lois Ziles Memorial Fund. Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo, was in charge of arrangements.

She was born July 2, 1923, in Galva, the daughter of Arthur and Florence (Bergstrom) Westlin. She was a graduate of Galva High School. She married F. Eugene Ziles Feb. 19, 1949, in Kewanee. She had been employed as a secretary at Brown and Brown Attorneys, and a bookkeeper at Geneseo Telephone Company. She was also a p.m. supervisor in the medical records department at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo, for 16 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Circle 13-7 of the church. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and visiting Bishop Hill, which her ancestors founded.

Survivors include a son and spouse, Greg and Noell Ziles of Holly Springs, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, LuAnn Ziles of St. Peters, Mo.; six grandchildren, Adam, Abbie and Angela Ziles, Brett Gripp, Elizabeth Riley, and Lindsey Ziles Goldberg; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Kneen of Geneseo; a brother and spouse, Darrell and Judy Westlin of Kansas City, Kan., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, John Ziles in 2000; two brothers, and two sisters.
