“The big thing was we made a big step from last week and were forced to play at a high level and it showed,” said head coach Larry Johnsen. “We did a good job tonight and I am happy.”

Tyler Fisher got things started for the Green?Machine as he took the ball himself and ran it in for the touchdown from 55 yards out. Fisher also added the PAT kick for the 7-0 lead.

Yorkville quickly responded with a Ryan Huettner 10 yard fumble return and Max Brusveen added the PAT kick to tie the game 7-7.

Andrew Walters closed out the first quarter of action with a 57-yard touchdown run and Fisher added the PAT for the 14-7 advantage.

It was all Geneseo in the second quarter as the Green?Machine broke off three big runs for pay dirt.

Landon Hoon sprinted the ball downfield for a 76-yard touchdown, which was followed by a Derek Mitchell 54-yard TD run. Fisher added the PAT kick after both TDs.

Billy Hamer found the open field and sped down the sideline for a 63-yard TD, but the PAT kick failed.

Yorkville was able to add another score in the second quarter as Tony LaManita connected with Jaden Richardson for a 35-yard touchdown and Brusveen added the extra point.

“As a team goes, I thought we did a good job,” said Johnsen. “It was a big test with the different formations Yorkville runs. The big thing was to get lined up and play hard and I thought we did a good job adjusting.”

Walters capped off the Geneseo dominated second quarter with an 11 yard TD run and Fisher added the extra point for the 41-14 Geneseo lead at the half.

In the second half, West Cathcart dove into the end zone for a 25-yard TD run and Jacob Arnold added the PAT kick. Geneseo was able to hold Yorkville off in the third quarter for the 48-7 advantage.

To close out the game, Mitchell reached the end zone for his second TD of the night on a 14-yard run and Arnold added the extra point for the 55-14 final.

The Green?Machine chewed up 580 yards of total offense and only allowed Yorkville  212 yards.

Geneseo rushed for 543 yards on 43 carries and passed for 37 yards on three receptions.

Leading the running game for the Green?Machine were Walters and Hoon who both finished the night with over 100 yards. Walters ran for 113 yards on six carries, while Hoon came up with 109 yards on five carries.

Hamer ended the night with 73 yards on five carries, followed by Fisher with 64 yards on six carries.

Mitchell ran for 62 yards on four carries, while Cathcart had five carries for 50 yards. David Behrens finished with 43 yards on four carries, followed by Jacob Koster with six carries for 22 yards and Blake Croegaert with two carries for 7 yards.

Through the air Friday night, Fisher had 37 yards with three completions on five attempts. He connected with Walters once for 9 yards and JJ Rivera twice for 28 yards.

The defense held Yorkville to 159 rushing yards and 53 passing yards for the night.
Cathcart led the defense with two tackles for a loss of 6 yards.

Erik Solberg added one tackle for a loss of 4 yards, followed by Anthony Roome with a tackle for a loss of 3 yards and Cole Reiling and Behrens each had one tackle for a loss of 1 yard.

“The challenge is to get better and not have a big let down,” said Johnsen. “We had a good week of practice and it showed.”

The Green Machine (4-0 overall) opens conference play tonight in a 7:30 p.m. showdown with Dixon at Bob Reade?Field.
