Robert E. Park, 80, of Atkinson, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at Trinity Hospital, Rock Island. A funeral Mass celebrating his life was held Tuesday, Sept. 21, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Atkinson. The Rev. Michael Monclova officiated. Burial was in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Atkinson. Visitation was Monday, Sept. 20, at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Atkinson, where a Rosary was recited. Memorials may be made to the Robert E. Park Memorial Fund.

He was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Geneseo, the son of Gilbert and Ella (Egert) Park. He attended Geneseo High School. He married Bonita “Bonnie” Causemaker Sept. 16, 1950, in Atkinson. He farmed in rural Atkinson for 31 years and worked for John Deere Harvester Works for 32 years as a pipefitter, retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters and Moose Lodge No. 990, Geneseo. He also enjoyed tinkering with tractors and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; two daughters and spouses, Julie and Darrell “Whitey” Swanson of Geneseo and Jean and Jeff Roman of Atkinson; two sons and spouses, Jeff and Theresa Park of Geneseo and Joe and Kim Park of Princeton; a daughter-in-law, Denise Park of Atkinson; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters and spouse, Marguerite and Ralph DeBlieck and Phyllis Gibler, all of Geneseo. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jim Park in 1993; two sisters, and one brother.
