Northern Illinois Big 12 Meet

The Lady?Leaf golfers captured the Northern Illinois Big 12 conference title Sept. 28 at Rochelle Country Club, beating out Sterling and Sycamore.

“We had played Sterling before and I thought we could beat them, but Sycamore was an unknown,” said head coach Judi Nash. “I didn’t know how it would play out. I am extremely proud of them. They stepped up to the occasion and did a fine job and I am so happy for them.”

Allison Farrell also earned a conference championship, winning the event with a score of 80. Farrell shot 40s on both the front and back nine.

“Allison had a real good front nine, but stumbled a bit on the back nine,” said Nash. “She was two strokes behind the second place girl at the turn and I was hoping she could make up ground and she did.”

Karah Bishop cracked into the top 5 with an 87, shooting a 50 and a 37, while Kelsey Wirth placed 10th with a 93, carding a 53 on the front nine and a 40 on the back.

Emilee Green came in 14th overall with a 101, shooting a 58 and a 43 for the day, followed by Alex Radue with a 103 (45-58). McKenzie Carey finished the day with a 108 (58-50).
