A chemical that’s used in the production of foamed plastics like yoga mats and rubber-soled shoes will no longer be part of Subway’s bread, the Chicago Tribune reports. The sub shop was using the ingredient — azodiacarbonamide — as a bread conditioner to whiten the dough and bake it faster. An online petition had been started by Vani Hari, creator of the website, to remove the ingredient, which is banned in other countries.
