Arvid C. Jones, 74, of Geneseo, died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus in Silvis. A funeral Mass celebrating his life was held Monday, April 7 at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Michael Pakula officiated. Entombment was in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, East Moline. A visitation was held Sunday, April 6 at Vandemore Funeral Homes Ltd., Geneseo, where a scripture service was held. He was born on May 13, 1939, in Silvis, the son of Clarence and Iva (Sterns) Jones. He married Jean Anders on Nov. 21, 1987, at St. Mary’s Church in East Moline. Arvid worked for John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline in the tool crib for more than 30 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church. Arvid enjoyed bowling, shooting guns, target practice, his cars, and playing Hot Wheels with his son. He enjoyed fishing and going to Las Vegas.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; his son, B.J. Jones of Geneseo; mother-in-law, Esther Anders of East Moline and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Jennifer Lynn; his brothers, Johnnie and Ivan Jones; his sister, Rose Terry; and his father-in-law, James Anders.
