Doris Jean Kiss, 89, of Geneseo, formerly of Moline, died Friday, April 4, 2014, at WoodRidge Assisted Living Center, Geneseo, where she was currently residing. A funeral service celebrating her life was held Monday, April 7 at Vandemore Funeral Homes Ltd., Geneseo. Deacon Harley Chaffee officiated. A private graveside service was held Tuesday, April 8 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline. A visitation was held Monday, April 7 prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Geneseo Community Chest or WoodRidge Supportive Living.

She was born on Sept. 10, 1924, in Litchfield, Neb., the daughter of Fred and Nellie (DeBruler) Gale. She was a graduate of Rock Island High School. She married Rudolph M. Kiss on June 27, 1947, in Rock Island. He died in 1998. Doris previously attended Sacred Heart Church and St. Mary’s Church in Moline. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crossword puzzles. Doris also was a very devoted grandmother.

Survivors include her son, Michael (Mary) Kiss of Geneseo; grandchildren, Luke Kiss, John (Nicole) Kiss and Jim Kiss; great grandchildren, Sam and Lilly; and special nephew, Warren (Connie) L. Gale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph; her daughter, Gayle Ann; her son, Timothy; her sister, Pauline; and her brothers, Lyman, Jim and Jack.
