The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has a panel focusing on the agency's proposed extension of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles' greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions standards beyond model year 2018.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has assembled representatives of small businesses, governments, and not-for-profit organizations to provide advice for a Small Business Advocacy Review (SBAR) Panel. This panel will focus on the agency’s proposed extension of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles' greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions standards beyond model year 2018.
EPA is working jointly with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), which expects to propose coordinated fuel efficiency standards, and in consultation with the California Air Resources Board (ARB). EPA and NHTSA standards would further reduce GHG emissions and fuel consumption through the application of advanced, cost-effective technologies. This action could affect manufacturers of a wide range of on-road vehicles, from semi-trucks and their trailers to the largest pickup trucks and vans, along with all types and sizes of work trucks and buses. This action would not regulate truck operators or truck dealers.
The Regulatory Flexibility Act requires the EPA to establish a Small Business Advocacy Review (SBAR) Panel for rules that may have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities. The SBAR Panel includes federal representatives from the Small Business Administration (SBA), the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and EPA.
The panel members asks the business and government representatives for advice and recommendations on behalf of their company, community, or organization to inform the panel members about the potential impacts of the proposed rule on small entities.
