Charles F. Claeys, 79, of Geneseo died Sunday, March 8, 2015, at his home. A private graveside service was Wednesday, March 11 at Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Greg Chenoweth officiated. Per his requests, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation was from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 11 at Vandemore Funeral Home in Geneseo. Memorials may be left to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Charles was born Feb. 25, 1936, in Geneseo, the son of Fred and Celeste (Goss) Claeys. He was a graduate of Geneseo High School and proudly served his country in the US Navy. He was united in marriage to Mona M. Radue on Sept. 24, 1960, in Geneseo. Charles was a farmer in rural Geneseo for man years. He also was a truck driver for many various companies for many years and, for the last 15 years, he drove for Consolidated Freight, from which he retired. Charles belonged to the Geneseo Moose Lodge No. 990. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, cooking and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Mona; sons, Jim (Linda) Claeys and Ron Claeys, both of Geneseo; daughter, Stacy Claeys of Iowa City, Iowa; grandchildren, Eric Claeys, Brian Claeys, Nicki (Ted) Stoops, Kelsey (Brandon) Cherry, Tyler Claeys and Emma Claeys; and great grandchildren, Kaylea, Grace, Charlee, Lilly and Luke. He was preceded in death by his parents.
