Born Dalene Ann Sobehart on Oct. 11, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, she was the daughter of John and Bessie (Klima) Sobehart. Dalene graduated from Wilson High School in Cedar Rapdis. She worked for a period of time in the office of Dr. E.L. Grandon. Dalene was united in marriage to Louis H. Ford on Oct. 14, 1967, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Louis preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1981.

Dalene lived in Cedar Rapids until July 1, 2010, when she moved to Good Samaritan Geneseo Village to be closer to her only son’s family. She had just recently moved to WoodRidge Supportive Living Residence in Geneseo.

Dalene was a tremendously sweet and caring woman, volunteering at Mercy Hospital during her time in Cedar Rapids. Her family and friends will miss her cheery outlook and encouraging words, along with the caramels, cookies, and Czech kolaches she was famous for baking.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Beth (Luckenbill) Ford of Geneseo; and her two beloved grandchildren, Ben and Danny. Dalene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and brothers, Arnold (1929) and Argene (1951).
