Bernice Irene Hamerlinck, 88, of Orion, died Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Hillcrest Home in Geneseo. A Mass of Christian burial was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 15 at Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Orion. A visitation was from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 14 at the church with a prayer service at 3 p.m. Burial followed at Western Township Cemetery in Orion. Memorials may be made to Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church or the Hillcrest Home activities department.

Bernice was born Nov. 23, 1926, in Milan, the daughter of Alvin James and Katherine A.L. Carlson Curry. She married William Richard Hamerlinck on June 15, 1946, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Milan. He preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 2012.

Bernice was a member of Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church where she was involved with the Altar and Rosary Society and the choir. She was a World War II Mother and a VFW Auxiliary member in Orion.

Survivors include children, Gary W. (Deb) Hamerlinck of Geneseo; James (Nancy P.) Hamerlinck of Coal Valley; Keith (Nancy L.) Hamerlinck of Cleveland, Ill.; Mary (Don) Morris of Orion; and Tom (Tammy) Hamerlinck of Cambridge; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles (Ruth) Curry of Alpha; and a sister, Patricia Curry Nimrick of Taylor Ridge. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Alvin J. Curry; sister, Betty Hamerlinck; two grandsons, Matthew and Tony; and a great-granddaughter, Faith.
