Walkers using the Hennepin Canal path often spot wildlife — birds, squirrels, frogs and ... Big Foot?

Geneseo resident Gene Hartsock, who lives near the Hennepin Canal, has a wooden cutout of Big Foot on display in his yard.

Forget “Harry and the Hendersons.” It’s more like “Harry and the Hennepin.”

“I’ve had it for about three months now,” said Hartsock, adding he cut the Big Foot from a pattern and painted it black.

When Big Foot isn’t in his yard, it’s been visiting other locations.

“I’ve been taking it and depositing it in other people’s yards around Geneseo and the Quad-City area,” he said.

“I usually get up around 4:30 a.m. or so to sneak it into someone’s yard,” he said.

“People know I’m a jokester, so I usually get the call when they find it in their yard,” he said.
