The Geneseo Art League is challenging area residents to use their creativity in a “Two-by-Four Challenge.”

Using only a single 2x4 piece of wood, contestants are asked to submit an entry to the contest.

“The possibilities are endless of what can be done with one 2x4. We are expecting some novel, innovative ideas from our creative artists who may cut, paint, stain, embellish and more, but may only use the amount of basic material in one 2x4,” said Geneseo Art League president Jodi Haars.

Entries will be displayed at a wood exhibit held in conjunction with Geneseo’s Trains, Planes & Automobiles event on Saturday, Sept. 9.

The competition is open to all ages and there is a separate category for younger artists (up to eighth grade) to fabricate something using 60 popsicle-type sticks in recognition of the 60th anniversary of the Geneseo Art League.

For more information, visit the Geneseo Art League at 125 N. State St.. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.
