The Geneseo Communications Charitable Foundation recently provided $5,000 to Hillcrest Home to purchase a SciFit StepOne Recumbent Stepper for its residents.

“We are extremely grateful to Geneseo Communications Charitable Foundation,” said Lorna Brown, Administrator of Hillcrest Home. “Through their support we purchased our first SciFit stepper in 2016. This machine provides exercise access for residents both in and out of wheelchairs and has helped to further promote ongoing health and fitness.”

She added, “Many of the residents who have used the machine have shown marked improvement in both strength and mobility. So much so many are motivated to continue their fitness routine and as a result we typically have a line waiting to use it.”

The recent donation enabled a second machine to be purchased.

“Two machines will help better meet the needs of our residents and further enhance our therapy and rehabilitation services in both our skilled and long-term care units,” said Brown.

Hillcrest Home is a not-for-profit nursing home that is owned and operated by Henry County.

The Geneseo Communication Charitable Foundation was established in 2002 by Geneseo Communications Inc. to enhance, develop and benefit the Geneseo community.
