Twenty-two Geneseo High School seniors have been named Illinois State Scholars.

Illinois State Scholars are determined by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission. Students are recognized for their outstanding academic achievement. They rank in the top 10 percent of the state’s high-school graduating seniors.

Rankings are based on a combination of ACT, SAT or Prairie State Achievement Exam scores and/or class rank at the end of their junior year.

Superintendent Dr. Adam Brumbaugh said, “Geneseo High School has 22 students who have reached academic success at the highest level in comparison to their peers across the state. Their achievement is a credit to themselves, their families, and to the district.”

GHS Principal Travis Mackey recognized the students for their accomplishment, and said, “The commitment to excellence these students have shown is remarkable. They set a standard our school can be proud of and others should strive to achieve.”

Illinois State Scholars from Geneseo High School are: Conner Alwood, Josephine Brown, Charles Cathcart, Noah Coughlen, Rachel Daniels, Alyssa Duckett, Kylee Gehl, Caitlin Gorge, Tyler Green, Bek Hartman, Hannah Himmelman, Emma Ibanez, Ty Johnson, Ryan Miller, Gabriel Moss, Zachary Olson, Lauren Plumley, Kristin Polowy, Adia Raya, Breanna Smith, Avery Spranger and Rachel Vondra.

The Illinois State Scholars will be recognized at Academic Scholars Night on March 11, 2019, in the GHS Concert Hall.
