Lois A. Wexell, 84, of Geneseo, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, in Geneseo. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22 at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services. The Rev. Brian Giese will officiate. A visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, of Kewanee, or the Hammond-Henry Hospital Foundation.

Lois A. Ashdown was born May 18, 1934, in Erie, the daughter of Judson and Stella (Hubbart) Ashdown. She was educated in Erie schools and graduated from Erie High School in 1952. Lois attended the Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing from 1952 to 1955 and received her registered nurse designation. She then worked as a surgical nurse at Moline Public until her marriage. She married Carl Wexell on Oct. 13, 1957, at the Erie Christian Church. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Kewanee. Lois never met a stranger.

Those surviving are her husband, Carl; a daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Bob Fuller, of Champaign; a son, Jeff Wexell, of Cambridge; eight grandchildren, Cody, Kyle, and Brett Wexell, Josh Fuller, Crystal Lake, Bobby Fuller, Cassandra Ipox, Joseph Fuller, nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. Other survivors include a sister, Carol (Keith) Bailey, of East Moline; and a brother, Lee (Kathy) Ashdown, of Erie. Her parents and an infant brother preceded her in death.
