A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Wise Family Funeral Home, in Roseville. The Rev. David Yonker, pastor of First Christian Church, in Burlington, Iowa, and Pastor Ryan Cosgrove will officiate. A visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Raritan Cemetery, in Raritan. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 1225 Park Ave., Burlington, IA 52601 or to a fund for her grandchildren.

She was born Friday, Dec. 24, 1937, in Henderson County, the daughter of the late Charles and Myrtle Morris. She married Wendell Ardene Torrance on Aug. 24, 1956, at the First Methodist Church, in Biggsville, where she was a member.

She was raised and educated in rural Gladstone and graduated from Biggsville High School in 1955. She worked at Formfit in Monmouth and Western Electric in Montgomery. She held various positions in several school districts for many years. She enjoyed traveling and time spent with family and friends. She and her husband worked as tour guides for Payless Tours out of Danville from February 1998 through December 2013. Marjorie was a member of the First Christian Church in Galesburg where she served on a special committee, before she and her husband Wendell moved to Burlington and joined the First Christian Church there.

Although Marjorie seldom sought to be the leader of an event or activity involving our family, she was there giving positive suggestions and helping with what needed to be done. She dearly loved her family, spending time with everyone and especially going to Adventureland with the family on Labor Day weekend since 1983. She enjoyed Christmas activities and playing games. Marjorie was not a critical person and was always praising and supportive of all of us, whether it be work or play. She will be extremely missed.

Surviving are her husband, Wendell A. Torrance, of Burlington, Iowa; two sons: Greg (Debbie), of Pekin; and Eric (Tammy), of Burlington, Iowa; four grandchildren: Heather (Chris) Lebow, of Willis, Texas; Chelsea (Keith) DeSelms, of Roseburg, Ore.; Katie Torrance, of Clarksville, Mo.; and Jared Torrance, of Burlington, Iowa; four great-grandchildren: Hanna, Hadley and William Lebow, of Willis, Texas; and Jaiden Jakab0, of Clarksville, Mo.; as well as several nieces and nephews; one brother, David Morris of rural Gladstone; three sisters, Mary (Charles) Martin, of Livingston, Texas; Karyl Sears of Teutopolis; and Janice (J.R.)
