Dorothy Lois (Arnold) Hunter, 85, of Geneseo, formerly of Rock Island and Moline, died Tuesday, March 5, 2019, with her family by her side. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation was from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, March 11 at Grace United Methodist Church. A memorial service was at 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, in Bettendorf, Iowa. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, in Geneseo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dorothy was born April 7, 1933, at the family farmhouse outside of Aledo, the daughter of Clarence and Clora Dixon. Dorothy graduated from Aledo High School and attended the American Institute of Commerce, in Davenport, Iowa. She was employed by WOC-TV, in Davenport; The Rock Island Arsenal; and was last employed by Black Hawk College in the administrative offices.
Dorothy married Norman K. Arnold, of Moline, on Dec. 26, 1952. Norman died May 13, 1991, in Moline. On Jan. 1, 2001, Dorothy married Col. Frank B. Hunter, in Oklahoma City, Okla. He died Sept. 9, 2009. Dorothy loved her family, friends, books, music, and genealogy. She enjoyed traveling the world and spent winters in Arizona. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, in Geneseo.
Dorothy is survived by daughters, Pat (Jon) Hankins, of White House, Tenn., and Deb (Mike) Zemo, of Moline; son, Bob (Cari) Arnold, of Clermont, Fla.; and stepson Tracy (Mary) Stollberg, of Glen Ellyn. Her grandchildren are: Brett Groene, of White House, Tenn.; Bridget (John) Stec, of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; Jessica (Wade) Murphy, of Maricopa, Ariz.; Michael (Chrissy) Zemo, of Davenport, Iowa; Sarah (Dan) Williams, of Naperville; and Lauren Arnold, of Naperville. Her great-grandchildren are: Paige (Matt) Turppa, of Hermitage, Tenn.; and Zoey and Lucas Zemo; Blake and Selah Williams; and Harrison and Lilah Stec. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Clora Dixon; sister, Maxine Heggie; and brother, Lane Dixon.
