Nancy R. Russell, 78, of Geneseo, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at her residence. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 3 at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, in Geneseo. The Rev. Randall Mullin will officiate. Burial will follow at North Cemetery. A visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Nancy Russell Memorial Fund.
Nancy was born on April 9, 1941, the daughter of LaVerne and Blanche (Cook) Farrey, in Lead Mine, Wis. She married John “Jack” Russell on Sept. 30, 1957. Nancy worked at the Geneseo Republic for 30 years as an administrative assistant. She loved babysitting her great-grandchildren as well as taking care of her yard and flowers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 61 years, Jack; sons, Randy (Jacquie) Russell, of Geneseo; and Robert (Carleen) Russell, of Peru; daughter, Deanna (Mike) Walden, of Sanford, Fla.; son-in-law, Jack Thompson, of Inman, S.C.; brothers, Wayne (Kathy) Farrey, of Lancaster, Wis.; and Gordon (Sam) Farrey, of Virginia; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Deborah Jean Thompson on Feb. 15, 2019; sister, Lois Clark; and brothers, Dale Farrey, Donald Farrey and Carl Farrey.
